Advocating for Equal Economic Opportunities

WIHD is committed to enhancing the working conditions of the working poor, particularly women, within the informal economy. We stand at the forefront of advocating for equal economic opportunities, rights, and representation, bridging the gap between informal workers and key stakeholders.

At Women in Humanitarian Dynamics (WIHD), we are dedicated to empowering informal workers worldwide. Our mission is to enhance the working conditions of the working poor, particularly women, within the informal economy. We stand at the forefront of advocating for equal economic opportunities, rights, and representation, bridging the gap between membership-based organizations (MBOs) of informal workers and key stakeholders. Through collaboration, credibility, and evidence-based advocacy, we strive to address grassroots concerns effectively, ensuring tangible improvements in the lives of informal workers.

We are a global network committed to promoting social and economic justice for informal workers. We recognize the invaluable contributions of informal workers to economies worldwide and the unique challenges they face. WIHD serves as a platform for advocacy, research, and empowerment, bringing together diverse stakeholders to address the needs and concerns of informal workers.

Our approach is rooted in collaboration, credibility, and evidence-based advocacy. We work closely with informal worker organizations, researchers, development practitioners, and policymakers to amplify the voices of informal workers and advocate for policies that promote their well-being. Through our innovative programs in Organization and Representation, Research and Statistics, Law, Social Protection, Rural Policies, and Special Initiatives, we strive to create positive change and empower informal workers to build better futures for themselves and their communities.

The WIHD Team comprises over 32 specialists situated in more than 18 countries worldwide, fostering strong partnerships and alliances across regions. These specialists are primarily contracted consultants, with a minority serving as full-time employees. Many also hold roles as educators, researchers, and consultants for other institutions. The WIHD Ltd. Office, housing the Operations and Finance Teams, is located in Yaounde, Cameroon.
